Artists! Help Build the Wall!

It’ll be a great, great, beautiful wall.

No, not that wall. That wall is all about exclusion.

We invite you to help us build a wall of inclusion.

Ours will be a wall of art. 

We need to cover 100 square feet with solid oddness.

Or beauty. Or madness. Or what have you.

This is an ongoing project that will take 6 to 8 months to complete.

If enough folks come on board, we can extend it to cover an additional 100 square feet. 

So, post your bills. Just about any media will fly.

As with last year’s Small Works show, we ask you to limit the size of individual pieces, but multiple works are encouraged. Artwork can be framed or unframed.

Work does not need to be displayed for the entire duration of the project;

we want the wall to change and evolve. 

Collage artists are especially invited to participate. Lynn Frost has provided us with many boxes of collage materials collected by our favorite collagist, Amy Edgington, and they are here waiting for your creative use.

When it’s done, we’re going to Tear Down The Wall.

What doesn’t sell (precious little, we hope) will be returned to the artists.

All humans are hereby dubbed artists and all artists are welcome.

Those who wish to fill our smaller, auxiliary walls with 30 day exhibits

are encouraged to submit their work and ideas for those as well. 

We’re also open to events, workshops, and pop-up shops.

And don’t forget the Drink & Draws every second Tuesday night. 

The wall will not be televised. It will, however, be displayed here. 

And all are invited to come by to view its progress and add to it as we go along.

Call For Entries: “Shrunken”

Gallery 360 wants you to think small.  Artists are invited to submit work in all media, the only restrictions being size.  Two dimensional work should be any size under 50 square inches. (Examples: 6” x 8” = 48” = OK; 8” x 10” = 80” = too durn big) Three dimensional work should be any size under 80 cubic inches. (Example: 3” x 8” x 3” = 72”)  Multiple entries are encouraged. Deadline: April 5. Show opens April 12th and runs through May 14th.

Scrounging For Art

Gallery 360 will awaken from its summer slumber in September with a showing titled "Artists Scrounging."  To that end, we are looking for artwork made recently using found, recycled and re-purposed materials. That covers a lot of ground and will hopefully spark imaginations.

Call For Entries: Dia de los Muertos

Summer's still here, but not for long.  It's time to start creating art for Gallery 360's second annual Dia de los Muertos exhibit.

All media is to be considered.  Paintings, drawings, sculptures, altars - anything tweaking yet honoring the dead is welcome.

The Day of the Dead is November 1st. DEADline for entries is October 25th.  Help us spread the word.

Call For Entries

Seven is a special number.  So, for our seventh gallery show we want to do something different.  We want all the anarchist artists out there to take over our walls.  

In particular, we're wanting:

1. Art made from found or discarded materials;

2. RePurposed art;

3. Street art brought inside;

4. Art made by iconoclasts, weirdos and non-artists. 

This will be an upside-down and inside-out series of events.  

First, we will ask you to take a look around your house and find some stuff you don't mind getting rid of.  Stuff that might be fashioned by a clever, bold or slightly skewed individual into something approximating 'art.'  Throw it all into a box.  If that box fills up, fill another.  Bring the boxes to the gallery.

Secondly, imagine you are that clever, bold, or slightly skewed individual.  Make plans to drop by the gallery on Saturdays and Sundays in June and July to help us create new stuff from the old stuff.  If you're somebody who has already played this game, teach somebody else.  Invite your kids, relatives and friends to join you. 

As something approximating 'art' is made, we'll hang it on the wall and offer it for sale.  The gallery takes a cut, the artist (you!) takes the bulk.

Instead of an opening, we celebrate in August with a closing.  Prices are reduced and fun is had by all.

Bring Out Your Dead

Gallery 360 is preparing for its first showing and you are invited to submit artwork for display.  The theme:  The Day of the Dead.  

The end of October and the beginning of November is traditionally the time to remember, honor and celebrate the dead.  Whether it's the bonfires of the Gaelic harvest festival of Samhain or the spooks and ghouls of Halloween or the sugar skulls and cemetery picnics of Mexico's Dia de los Muertos, it is a time of both reverence and fun, a party for both the living and the dead. 

What would you make to celebrate?  A shrine for a friend or relative who passed away?  A dancing skeleton, perhaps?  A portrait of the coming zombie apocalypse?  Anything dead related, from traditionally decorated calacas y calaveras to the coming zombie apocalypse are acceptable.  The only requirement is originality.

We will consider showing work that is 'not for sale,'  but we encourage folks to put a price on their work.  A portion of sales will go to the Central Arkansas Food Bank, but artists will retain 60%.   

The show opens October 13th, with a celebration on the Day of the Dead (November 1st).  The art will be up through November 11th.
