a deviant farewell
As the world’s worst photographer, I can attest this is not the worst picture I took at the last 360 opening for ‘deviant.’ This one, despite being awful, hints at the chaotic soulfulness of the attendees.

'Stuff Index' by Brian Wolf Opens Saturday, August 27
‘Stuff Index,’ an exhibit showcasing new paintings by Brian Wolf, opens 6 pm Saturday at Gallery 360.
Brian creates comically bold and off kilter abstract paintings on canvas. His work is influenced by minimalist hard edge painting, abstract mid-century modernism, and the gaudy forms of the Memphis Group.

Wecome Sabrina Zarco: Saturday, July 16
As I write this, Sabrina Zarco is preparing to pack up all the art quilts and mixed media paintings she’s been hard at work on for the past few months. She will be driving from her home in Pecos, New Mexico, to Little Rock, Arkansas, and on Friday she will hang her new creations on our gallery walls. We invite you to welcome Sabrina back to Arkansas by attending her opening of Chicana Goddess in the Bosque on Saturday, July 16th at 7 PM.
It was four years ago I first met Sabrina. We were setting up our very first gallery show on the theme of Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. As the opening day approached, I was becoming increasingly concerned that 1.) we would not have enough art to fill the space, and 2.) what art we had was good, but it fell short on authenticity. Enter Sabrina. Her quilts were like honoring songs to her native Mexican family and community. They were about spirit and pride and justice and all that’s so full of life, death does not defeat. She constructed an altar and invited everyone to add a little something to it to honor those who had passed on. In short, Sabrina made our first show. We are so glad to have her back. (She informs us that, in light of the madness we’ve lately been experiencing, a community altar of healing may be constructed.)
Now, I messed up somewhat in scheduling the opening. I usually check to see what other art openings are happening that night and try to avoid having ours conflict with others. I forgot to do that this time and Lynn Frost informed me that Amy Eddington’s retrospective showing at Gallery 26 is happening the same night as Sabrina’s. Amy and Sabrina were friends and shared many friends between them, especially in the LGBT community, so I’d like to apologize to Lynn and Renee and everyone else for my double booking. I encourage folks to share rides in order to take in both these shows on Saturday night. If you can only attend one that night, make a point to see the other in the coming weeks, because both these women’s works are exceptional, full of joy and well worth seeing. And maybe even buying.

Outsiders Opens Tuesday, June 20
"Outsiders" opens tomorrow and it fills the gallery walls with every color imaginable. Come meet and support artists Anthony Lopez and Rachel Dziga, who have both been hard at work for the last few months painting up a storm. Rachel is preparing for her continued art education in Florence, Italy, so any sales she can pull off here will go toward paying her art related expenses.
The opening will be from 6 to 11 PM. This show will be up through July 8th.

Shrunken: Small Works opens Tuesday, 4/12
We had no idea our call for small works would generate so much interest, but we're grateful it has. 42 artists have contributed over 150 pieces. It's been a challenge hanging so many disparate things and the arrangement may seem a bit on the haphazard side, but I'm pleased with how it looks. Come on down and see what's up. Here's the final list of artists:
Jason Blanchard, Claire Cade, Ike Garlington, Laura Fanning, Rachel Dziga, Anthony Lopez, Becky Botos, Dan Huff, Richard Davies, Everett Gee, Ginny Bingham LeVar, X3MEX, Roland Burnham, Robot Blood, Erica Vanhaute, Larissa Gudino, Brian Madden, Matthew Bivens, Tea Jackson, Rayna Mackey, Allison Traylor, Lilia Hernandez, Michael Church, Vin Griffin, Lynn Frost, Amy Edgington, Jack Sims, Jan Sutton, Diane Blevins, Wendy Newsam, Donna Hoffman, Darcie Harvell, Gillian Stewart, Cassandra A., Shane Baskin, Jan Sutton, Phillip Rex Huddleston, Jennifer Perren, LONER, Jay King, and Matthew Castellano.

Ice Box 2 Postponed
Seems wrong to postpone a show titled "Ice Box" because of snow, but that's what we have decided to do. The opening will more than likely be next week. We'll let everybody know as soon as we regroup.

X3MEX @ 360!
Gallery 360 reopens Friday night with 'Detalles,' an exhibit of new work by x3mex. At this stage, we have no idea what he has in store for us, but that's just the way the man works. His latest mural (pictured above) went up on our outside wall the day of his last showing here, so previews don't exist in the world of x3mex. Come on by Friday and you'll be among the first to see what he's been up to these last few months. He's bringing along a couple of his friends - DJ Swift and DJ Ivan - to spin a web of sound. Detalles is very much open to the public, so come on down and get down.
